Hygiene COVID-19
Proper procedures for the prevention of COVID-19 contamination
We all play an important role in reducing the risk of coronavirus infection (COVID-19). At a time when property cleaning is more than essential and has never been so important, it is recommended that hotels and accommodation be cleaned more frequently. From disinfection to daily cleaning, we leave an instruction guide with measures for confirmed cases in the accommodation and properties without cases:
If you have had a confirmed case in your accommodation, find out when was the last day the positive person was in the accommodation. Studies indicate that the virus remains between two to three on plastic and stainless steel surfaces.
If a guest or employee is suspected or confirmed, they must be isolated in a prepared room, with a bathroom, so that the cleaning of the remaining accommodation can take place. The person suspected or confirmed with COVID-19 must not leave the room during the isolation period defined by the General Directorate of Health (DGS). The room where the person has been must not be cleaned during isolation.
Consider the material that each accommodation must include as a prevention and safety measure:
- Usual cleaning materials
- Disinfectant product
- Disposable gloves
- Disposable masks
- Glasses
- Disposable apron
- Shoe Covers

Whenever you arrive at the property or accommodation, avoid physical or close greetings, maintaining the recommended social distance of 2 meters. Remove shoes and change for specific ones for the housing or put on covers.
Wash your hands several times a day with warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds. Avoid touching your face. After washing your hands you should put on disposable gloves, mask and apron.
Before cleaning, turn on the fan/air conditioning and open the windows.
Clean all surfaces with warm soapy water, paying special attention to knobs, switches, controls, countertops, shower. It is recommended that you first clean all surfaces with soap and water with a microfilm cloth and then disinfect.
To avoid contamination of already cleaned areas, start by cleaning high surfaces, going down to the floor and, from the end of the room to the door. Leave the bathroom for last, you should use it to clean yourself and the materials you used.
After cleaning, disinfect surfaces with a suitable product. See the list of effective cleaning products against coronaviruses. Spray the surface and wipe with a clean, damp cloth. Check product label to ensure recommended use, increasing effectiveness.
Machine wash carpets, pillows, clothes and bedding. It should not be shaken to avoid spreading the virus and contaminating clean areas. First, you should vacuum them with the soft brush and place them in the washing machine at the highest recommended temperature depending on the labels for each one.
All materials that cannot be washed or disinfected must wait 72 hours to use them again. If you can dispose of it, store it safely for three days before disposing of it in household waste.
Before cleaning and disinfecting, vacuum the floor, upholstery and rugs, eliminating any debris.
Clean the floor with warm water and disinfectant. Clean as if you were making a figure of eight and leave the room to avoid contaminating the cleaned areas.
For the carpets use a detergent suitable for carpets. When using the detergent, you must mix it with water to form a foam that will be applied to the rug and, after two hours, it must be vacuumed.
Non-disposable equipment must be washed at a high temperature, above 60º. Check labels to wash at the highest recommended temperature. All equipment that cannot be machine washed, such as goggles and mop, must be hand washed and disinfected.
